In July of 2015, Dr. Dean Sprinkle became the 7th president of Wytheville Community College (WCC). WCC was established in 1963. Dr. Sprinkle received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He also holds a Masters of Psychology from Western Carolina University, a Bachelors of Psychology from N.C. State University, and an Associate of Science in Natural and Physical Science from Lees McRae College. Prior to becoming president at Wytheville Community College, Dr. Sprinkle most recently served as Senior Vice President of Instruction at Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, NC. Over his 23 year career in higher education, he held a number of positions while at Wilkes, including Vice President of Instruction and Student Services, Dean of Student Services, Institutional Effectiveness Officer, and Counselor. Before coming into higher education in 1992, Dr. Sprinkle served as a Staff Psychologist with local mental health agencies in Raleigh and Statesville North Carolina. Over his career, Dr. Sprinkle has served on a number of community boards and initiatives. These include Communities in Schools New Century Scholars program, the Wilkes Chamber of Commerce Education and Visioning Committees, serving as a member of on-site reaffirmation and substantive change committees with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, participating in the German-American Fulbright Seminar for US Administrators, and membership in Rotary. |
