SACJTC Announces Theme for 2007
At the spring meeting of the board of directors, the decision was made to mirror the focus of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools COC. The theme is "Renewing our Commitment to Learning, Students, and the Community." The board concurred that this emphasis was illustrative of the focus of most comprehensive 2 year colleges and one that relates directly to effectiveness and accreditation. In choosing this theme, the association will publicize it widely through its call for papers, in correspondence, and in its electronic publications.

LEESBURG, FLORIDA - The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)-Southern Association of Community, Junior and Technical Colleges (SACJTC) Journal has named Dr. Dale F. Campbell and Dr. Matthew J. Basham as the new co-editors of the SACS-SACJTC journal.

"We are pleased to bring both Drs. Campbell and Basham on to the SACS-SACJTC journal," said Dr. Charles Mojock, President of the Southern Association of Community, Junior, and Technical Colleges and President of Lake Sumter Community College. "Their expertise in community college research, leadership training and workforce development provides a good catalyst towards helping the journal grow into a world-class resource for community colleges with regard to improving institutional effectiveness, quality enhancement and preparing for S ACS accreditation visits."

Dr. Dale F. Campbell is a Professor in the College of Education, Department of Educational Administration and Policy and is the Director of the Community College Leadership Consortium of the University of Florida.

Dr. Matthew J. Basham is an Assistant Professor, College of Education, Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and is the Director of the Higher Education Leadership Institute (HELIX) of the University of Texas-Arlington.

"We are excited to be able to continue the excellence and groundwork laid by the journal as we enter the next phase of development of the SACS-SACJTC," said Campbell. "The journal will be changing to reflect technological advances to act as a central clearing house for SACS visit preparation for community colleges. The website repository will be second-to-none in its collection of best practices and experiences with SACS visitation teams."

SACJTC provides a support network of more than 300 two-year colleges through which ideas and information can be shared as community college presidents face the challenges of the 21st Century. The association represents a collective voice which provides advocacy and leadership regarding issues of critical importance to two-year colleges in the South. The SACJTC theme for 2007 mirrors the theme for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, "Renewing our Commitment to Students, Learning, and the Community."
